Untidy Desk? Here Are Four Quick Fixes

Published date: 08/05/2018 15:22

It’s never been easier to have a cluttered desk. The wide range of devices being used at the workplace combined with the lofty mountain of to-do lists and post-it notes means that it can feel like a pointless struggle to overcome the problem. After all, if it’s dealt with on Monday that just means it’ll be back with a vengeance on Friday, right? Not necessarily. Here’s some tips that can help you do away with all of those cumbersome cables and piles of paperwork.

Not using it? Ditch it.

Take a look around you. Is there anything nearby that you’re no longer using? Maybe a headset that you could never get used to, or a gimmicky calendar that you never bother looking at. Pass them onto a colleague or get rid of them, and then set aside some time to sort through your drawers. Then feel good about yourself for freeing up some much needed room.

Do away with untidy cables by getting a dock.

It’s funny that laptops are supposed to be portable, yet most of us are guilty of having so many cables connected to them that they become a huge chore to deal with. Docks keep everything together and bring mobility back to your laptop. And they’re also available for phones and smartwatches too, so they can charge without having sprawling wires attached to them.

Take a look at our range of Targus docking stations and Belkin charging stations here.

Go digital

Okay, so it’s hard to avoid all of the ‘digital transformation’ talk right now, but moving all of your notes to a digital platform really does do wonders for organisation. It might not be as satisfying as hastily scrawling a vital reminder in illegible handwriting, but it means that you won’t misplace crucial reminders and lists — and you can always use tick boxes or strikethrough font to replicate the sweet satisfaction of crossing something off a to-do list.

Get storage solutions for devices

This might be more applicable to those working in IT departments, but it’s a valid point for anyone dealing with a lot of devices on a day to day basis. You can get storage carts that keep everything in one place, or alternatively ones that actually charge all of the devices that are being stored in it. Efficient usage of a storage locker or cart can mean that users never need to be connected to a power supply when using a device again; not to mention that they keep everything together and tidy too.
