In a deal finalised on Friday 5th April 2019, Westcoast Holdings Ltd, Britain’s largest privately held technology group, are delighted to announce the expansion of their operational capacity with the lease of a new 340,000sqft warehouse facility in Andover, Hampshire, UK. The facility is due to become operational this year and will effectively double Westcoast’s UK warehouse space with capability to store over 60,000 locations. The new warehouse will add to existing facilities in Theale, Berkshire; Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire; Wilford, Nottinghamshire and St.Albans, Hertfordshire.
“This new facility demonstrates the level of confidence the Board has in the business and its future growth in the UK as well as in exports, expansion businesses and services – some of which will be based in Andover,” commented Alex Tatham, Westcoast’s Managing Director.
Andy Newberry, Westcoast’s Operations Director, added “This new space will ensure our fast-growing business will not be constrained by capacity, as well as provide some consolidation of third-party warehouses. In addition, it will give the business some further room to provide ever more logistics services to a wide range of customers – from retail to managed print, IT resellers to system integrators”
The move shows a confident business in a time of great uncertainty in the UK. “New space will allow us to manage whatever Brexit throws at us as well as build new services for some of the world’s greatest technology vendors and customers. It is an expansion plan that shows our industry, and the whole country, that one of its greatest success stories is still investing locally and confident in its future place in the UK,” said Alex.
A significant number of jobs will be created and fit out will commence immediately.
The facility became available, is of an appropriate size and is well located to serve Westcoast’s future plans. The location is only 50 mins drive away from Westcoast’s Theale HQ.
What products and services will be based in Andover?
The Board is still gaining feedback from the various product pillars in the business as to their expansion requirements and hence it is too early to be specific about this. However, the first move will be to relocate our subsidiary warehouses that do not act as despatch points in the current distribution network.
Will there be any impact for customers?
It will only allow Westcoast to continue to grow and serve our customers better. All will become clearer when Operations decide which products are moved into the new Andover facility.
Will there be any impact on jobs?
Andover is an expansion plan for Westcoast and hence will provide new opportunities internally and create new roles for staff to join one of Britain’s leading technology companies. Further details will emerge as plans develop.
Will there be new innovations in the new facility?
The new facility is likely to move immediately to Westcoast’s new warehouse management system. Other innovations will emerge once it is clear on the product areas to be located in Andover.
