From products to packaging, we’re making sustainable choices to support our own green mission and in turn, meeting your business’ and your customers’ eco goals.
We aim to achieve net zero across our supply chain, which includes Scope 3, by 2050.
To achieve sustainable change, you need a solid plan. That’s why we’ve worked with Arete Zero Carbon to measure our carbon emission baseline. We’ve created a guide to help us reach net zero, covering our short, medium and long-term goals. To make these goals a reality, our next step is delivering an actionable carbon reduction plan.
We meet the UK’s annual Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting regulations; the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures; and Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS).
We use sustainable packaging wherever possible, and we recycle over 500 tonnes of cardboard each year. 71% of our electricity comes from renewable sources, including our own solar panels at our Andover distribution centre. We have also installed EV charging points at our offices and offer an electric bike salary sacrifice and cycle to work scheme to our staff to ensure everyone feels able to do their part. And we look closely at our supplier choices to make sure we’re green up and down the supply chain. From how we can reduce our warehouse waste to how we dispose of devices, we’re scrutinising every decision.
We aim to provide you with a 100% circular solution, through data wiping, refurbishment and recycling services.
Westcoast Asset Management (WAM) can refurbish and remarket devices.
Third party IT Asset Disposal (ITAD) and recycling services help extract resources from end-of-life devices to maximise value and cut waste.
Closing the Loop is our partner for waste compensation using their one for one scheme. This scheme removes one device from a landfill site in a developing country per device purchased, reducing waste mismanagement in those countries. We’ve even been using them to sustainably handle our own old phones.
Since 2023, we’ve worked with More Trees in partnership with the Eden reforestation project, and we’ve planted 55,000 trees across North Haiti, East Kenaya, Madagascar and Kenya.
We also protected 40 acres of forest in FY23 with the World Land Trust.
At Westcoast we put people first – which is why corporate social responsibility (CSR) is important to our business. From supporting our charity of the year to nurturing young talent, we want to make a difference.
The world is a diverse place, and our business and the channel should reflect it. As a leader in our field, we’re committed to inspiring people from all walks of life and helping them achieve successful careers in technology. Through our Bright Sparks programme, we partner with local education providers to help young people kick start their career in STEM.
Workwise is our way of supporting the next generation of technology leaders. Through it, we connect with young people, offering them hands-on experience across almost all our departments. And by partnering closely with the Education Business Partnership we help spark inspiration about future careers in the tech sector.
We are happy to be supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) as our chosen charity for 2024. GOSH sees around 750 seriously ill children and young people from across the UK every day, while its teams work on pioneering paediatric research that transforms lives.
We are hoping to raise as much money as possible this year to support the charity, so it can give children facing complex illnesses the best chance to live happier lives.
We’re serious about supporting the arts. In fact, we’ve sponsored Henley Festival for more than 40 years. In 2024, we signed a three-year Headline Sponsorship contract with Henley Festival – continuing our close relationship and backing of its charitable programme RISE. Through RISE, we help those aspiring to work in the creative arts – on stage or behind the scenes – to take their first steps in a competitive industry. And we support the Westcoast RISING Star Award, celebrating the best new talent to come out of the scheme.
We want to make the channel a better place. So we hold ourselves to high standards, with good governance and strict compliance an essential part of how we operate and how we choose the suppliers we work with.
We are thrilled to have received a Best Practice commendation, following our recent ISO27001 external audit. This demonstrates that our business practices are robust in protecting our customers’ and partners’ data.
The ISO27001 certification, which is valid for three years, is an internationally recognised ‘Information Security Management System Standard’ - assessing how we’ve identified and mitigated potential security risks to confidential information. Plus, we were awarded the certification with no non-conformance issues noted.
To make sure we’re providing you with all the details, our key policies are all included on our website. You can find our Gender Pay Gap Report, Anti-Slavery Statement and Privacy Notice at the foot our website.
