To all Westcoast customers, suppliers and stakeholders
I would like to give you an update following the fast moving and ever changing circumstances we find ourselves in following successive government announcements, including the latest ‘lockdown’ measures announced by the British Prime Minister on Monday 23rd March 2020 and those already in place in mainland Europe and in the Irish Republic.
Clearly we have now instructed all but the most essential office/warehouse Westcoast workers to work from home and to follow the latest guidance to stay at home. However, we recognise that Westcoast is a fundamental and essential part of the supply chain keeping businesses, home workers and end-user customers including the NHS and other government departments enabled at this time. As such our warehouses are still operating and we are delivering normally. We are doing all we can to keep those working in these environments safe and a reasonable distance from each other wherever possible.
Our warehouse teams are all working heroically and I would like to thank them publicly for their work in helping to support the current unprecedented demand for laptops, print supplies, networking and accessory products. Understandably, we have lost some capacity in each warehouse though and I must tell you, our customers, not to expect next day deliveries as standard (although most product is being despatched as normal); nor should you ask for a same day delivery or a collection as we can no longer accommodate these. If your delivery is urgent, then please inform your account manager who will do their best to prioritise your order and ensure you place the order as early in the day as you can.
Please do NOT phone customer services. The whole team are working from home methodically through our CRM system. Sending an e-mail to email@example.com will log a case for you and our team will get back to you as quickly as they can.
Perhaps, most importantly, it is critical when asking for a delivery either to your office or to an end-user – that you ensure there is someone there to receive the delivery. The country’s delivery network is already under great strain and cannot afford failed deliveries, particularly as the likelihood of this will now increase at business locations. (Clearly this is unlikely to be the case for a home delivery!) Failed deliveries will be charged as standard at triple the standard Westcoast delivery rate for a parcel/pallet. Our team will contact you before despatch to check with you and your co-operation will be much appreciated.
Finally, in this extraordinary moment, Westcoast will prioritise NHS/HSE orders and those destined for the stretched public sector. They are doing all they can to help us navigate this situation and as Britain’s largest privately owned IT business – we will be doing all we can not to let them down.
