2024: A time to refresh and renew device sales

While 2023 may have been a stagnant period for devices, 2024 will bring with it a new PC era and fresh opportunities for partners to grow sales. Experts from our Win with Westcoast industry insights event identified that this will largely be driven by the emergence of AI-powered PCs. This will be the start of a new device refresh cycle post-pandemic, with changing requirements for the modern workspace.
The rise of mainstream AI-capable PCs
With technology leaders already releasing AI-supported devices and customers moving towards Windows 11, it’s anticipated that by 2025 AI PCs will be the mainstream and by 2027 two in three1 PCs will be AI enabled. Successful partners will be those that get ahead in 2024 and engage with the 19%1 share of market that are ready to adopt AI PC technology this year.
NPUs (Neural Processing Units) will be the processor of choice, as they are a necessity to help accelerate AI in the workplace and machine learning capabilities. These can already be found in devices like the Surface Studio Laptop 2, with Microsoft committing to the rollout of NPUs in all next-generation technology.
A shift in the remote-office balance
Return-to-work mandates are seeing a resurgence in the office space, as employers recognise the benefits in achieving a balance of in-office and remote working. According to Gartner, 76%2 of the workforce is already flexible with only 10% still fully remote. But employee expectations have changed. Many want the at-home experience they’ve grown accustomed to replicated in the office with high-definition, 4K technology. As a result, businesses are looking to re-equip office spaces to both accommodate new flexible ways of working and encourage the return to the workplace.
