2024: Accelerating the move to Windows 11

Published date: 11 January 2024

Back to insights

With Windows 10 reaching end of support in 2025, 2024 is the time to be guiding organisations through the Windows 11 migration. At our Win with Westcoast event, Microsoft’s Anjana Srinivasan, General Manager, Device Partner Sales, outlined the areas of growth this brings for Westcoast partners.

The value in Windows 11

Microsoft’s latest OS presents huge opportunities both for resellers and their customers, helping businesses to do more with less and relieving much of the digital debt users experience in the working day. Featuring integrated Gen AI tools, like Copilot, Windows 11 offers new ways to power productivity, with Work Trend Index 2023 findings showing Copilot boosts productivity by 70% and improves quality of output by 68%.

The platform also delivers an impressive 250% ROI over the device lifecycle, thanks to the technology’s combination of efficiency, security, and manageability – an essential for IT buyers that need to justify every pound spent. To support sales conversations in this area and prove the value in making the move, Microsoft’s free TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) calculator can help articulate to customers the return they can expect to see on their own investment.

To achieve these benefits, organisations will need the support of partners to help right-size their IT estates. The transition to Windows 11 represents another huge opportunity for the channel.

The Windows 11 layers of opportunity

Windows 11 presents a chance to not only support with migration and compatible devices, but to take a layered approach to your customers’ IT estates with SaaS offerings and ongoing support. In Anjana’s keynotes session, she identified the three layers of sales of opportunities on top of the Microsoft AI Stack, as:

Layer 1: Windows 11 edge and devices – design, build and sell intelligent devices, with new opportunities coming from emerging Neural Processing Unit (NPU)-powered technology and demand for Windows Copilot

Layer 2: Cloud Solution Programme SaaS – selling Microsoft AI services such as Microsoft 365 and Dynamic 365 Copilots, and Azure AI services.

Layer 3: Value-add services – such as Westcoast’s add on services to support customers with Readiness, Deployment, Management and Custom Solution development.
