BUILDING FUTURES: HOW WESTCOAST IS EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION

This National Day of Education, we're reflecting on something close to our hearts – shaping the future of talent. From initiatives like Bright Sparks, which inspires students in the Thames Valley to consider a career in tech, to hosting weeklong work experience workshops through our Workwise programme, we’re helping future leaders find their feet. At the end of 2024 we launched our Sales Apprenticeships, taking it one step further in supporting young people into careers in STEM.
Westcoast’s new Sales Apprenticeship programme spans 12 months, providing our young people with a solid foundation of knowledge, hands-on experience and the essential skills they need for a career in tech as well as their Level 1 and 2 Technical Sales qualification accredited by the iSales Academy.
In addition to our sales apprentices, we have seen a successful apprenticeship schemes within our Cyber Security and HR departments. Nimrah, who is soon to complete her 18-month level 3 HR support post, commented on her experience so far:
“I have loved my time at Westcoast as an apprentice. There are so many avenues of support available to me, whether that’s from my team with my work or help on assignments from my tutor. Lots of opportunities have been available for me to pick up new skills, as well as to attend events that I wouldn’t have had if I had chosen to go to university over an apprenticeship."
Cindy Mason, our Head of SMB, who is supporting the apprentices commented:
"I’m really passionate about bringing young people into the business and helping them to grow. It’s great for the individuals and the company alike, as it helps us develop our talent pool. We’re looking forward to running the programme again and hope to bring more young women into the industry through this scheme too."
