DIFFICULT, YET REWARDING, LONDON TO BRIGHTON CYCLE RIDE - IN AID OF MIND

On Sunday 10th September, David Cheese from our Apple Product Team completed the London to Brighton Bike ride in honour of Mind – Westcoast’s charity of the year – an organisation dedicated to making sure no one faces a mental health problem alone. Read on to find out more about the day from David:

"It was a long and difficult, yet rewarding, day as expected. Things didn’t get off to the best start after a sleepless night on Saturday due to the heat. When I started getting ready I wasn’t sure if I would make it to the first stop 17 miles in, or even be fit to ride at all. As they say, do all your thinking before you get on the bike. I’d spent too long preparing to not give it a go, so made my way to the start and set off among a horde of other riders, probably running mostly on adrenalin."

"The ride took me a lot longer than expected, partly due to having been a bit optimistic about the distance and my average speed capability, and partly making sure I was keeping hydrated etc. in the hot weather.

7 hours and 8 minutes after leaving Clapham, I made it to Madeira Drive in Brighton."

"I was really happy with how I performed, especially as I was able to keep going on all of the hills without having to get off and push the bike. The sense of achievement at the top of the penultimate stop at Ditchling Beacon was as good as the view! Thank you so much again to everyone who’s donated. I’m absolutely humbled by the support I’ve received."
